Dabei waren sich die Herausgeber von vornherein be- wuBt, daB keineswegs Geschlossenheit in der Abhandlung dieser weitgefiicherten The- matik, noch weniger Liickenlosigkeit in der Darstellung und Begriindun'g eines psycho- somatischen Krankheitskonzepts zu erreichen sein wiirde. Vielmehr sollte durch einen vielstimmigen Kanon unterschiedlicher, durchaus auch gegensiitzlicher Auffassungen eine Diskussion in Gang gesetzt und damit zugleich verstiirktes Interesse an der Geriat- rie im Sinne einer fachiibergreifenden medizinischen Disziplin geweckt werden. Fiir die Herausgeber bildet die Geriatrie geradezu einen Modellfall der Psychosomatik, die u. E. heute als eigene medizinische Disziplin Geltung beanspruchen kann, mehr noch aber als eine besondere Art, iirztlich zu denken und zu handeln. Die Herausgeber hoffen, daB dies in den einzelnen Betriigen dieses Berichtsbandes auf- leuchtet, die fUr sich und zusammen nieht zeigen wollen, daB Psychosomatik heute "in" ist, wohl aber, daB Geriatrie eine fUr jeden Arzt wiehtige und - sowohl unter diagnosti- schen als auch therapeutischen und rehabilitativen Aspekten - erfolgversprechende me- dizinische Disziplin darstellt, sofern die Grundlinien eines ganzheitlichen Paradigmas darin einflieBen, in dem Gesundheit und Krankheit nieht als statische Zustiinde, son- dern als sich ergiinzende Aspekte eines einheitlichen Prozesses erscheinen.
