Intentionales Handeln steht im Zentrum der von Kuhl und Heckhausen neu begriindeten Volitionsforschung (Heckhausen & Kuhl, 1985). Die damit in der Aligemeinen Psychologie angeregte "Wiederaufbereitung des Wollens" hat in der Klinischen Psychologie bisher kaum einen Niederschlag gefunden. In der vorliegenden Studie wird versucht, volitionale Konzepte fur das Verstiindnis von Angststorungen und deren psychotherapeutischer Behand- lung fruchtbar zu machen. Der Verhaltensaspekt phobischer StOrungen - das Flucht und Vermei- dungsverhalten - laBt sich in einem motivationspsychologischen Modell der Handlungskontrolle (Kuhl, 1983a, 1987a) als Handlungskontrolldefizit konzeptualisieren: Es gelingt dem Phobiker nicht, eine zunachst gefaBte Intention, die die Anniiherung an die phobische Situation beinhaltet, gegen die durch intemale und externale phobische Stimuli akut evozierte Motivationstendenz zur Flucht und Vermeidung erfolgreich abzuschirmen. In dem Modell der Handlungskontrolle wird dem metakognitiven Kon- trollmodus der Handlungs - vs. Lageorientierung eine bedeutende Rolle bei der effizienten Urnsetzung einer Intention zugeschrieben. In der vorliegen- den Studie solI geklart werden, inwieweit sich die Handlungs - bzw. Lageorientierung von Patienten mit AngststOrungen flir die Wiedergewin- nung von Handlungskontrolleffizienz in phobischen Situationen als bedeut- sam erweist.
