""Pyramus and Thisbe"" is a short story by the renowned American author, Henry James. The story is a retelling of the classic Greek myth of Pyramus and Thisbe, which tells the tragic tale of two lovers who are forbidden to be together by their families. In James' version, the story is set in modern-day Italy and follows the lives of two young lovers, Giovanni and Annunziata, who are similarly kept apart by their families. Despite their families' objections, the two continue to meet secretly and plan to elope. However, their plans are foiled when Annunziata's father discovers their intentions and forbids her from seeing Giovanni. The story ends tragically, with the two lovers separated forever.
