Die Autoren
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Günther Wirsching hat Mathematik und Physik studiert, promovierte an der Katholischen Universität Eichstätt und habilitierte sich dort für das Fach Mathematik. Er war als Entwicklungsingenieur im Bereich Sprachverarbeitung in der Automobilzulieferindustrie tätig, lehrt heute wieder an der KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt und betreibt Forschung vorwiegend im Bereich kognitive Systeme.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Matthias Wolff hat Elektrotechnik an der Technischen Universität Dresden studiert und promoviert und habilitierte sich dort im Fachgebiet Systemtheorie. Heute ist er Universitätsprofessor für Kommunikationstechnik an der BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. Prof. Wolff lehrt und forscht auf den Gebieten der akustischen Mustererkennung, der Sprachtechnologie und der technischen kognitiven Systeme. In der Lehre vertritt er zusätzlich Teilgebiete der Systemtheorie, der Nachrichtentechnik sowie der Audio- und Signalverarbeitung.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Ingo Schmitt hat Informatik an der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg studiert. Dort promovierte und habilitierte er sich für das Fachgebiet Informatik. Nach einer Assistenzprofessur an einer kanadischen Universität ist er Universitätsprofessor für Datenbank- und Informationssysteme an der BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. Er forscht auf den Gebieten Anfrageverarbeitung in Datenbanken, Multimedia-Retrieval-Systemen, probabilistische Datenbanken, Data Mining, kognitive Systeme sowie effiziente Indexstrukturen.
