Durch diesen Wandel wirken komplexe Einflüsse und Herausforderung auf die Unternehmen, die sich neuen Aufgaben stellen müssen, um zu überleben. Durch die Veränderung hin zum Käufermarkt werden die Kundenerwartungen im Hinblick auf Individualität der gefertigten Produkte, Lieferbereitschaft und Produktionsgeschwindigkeit erhöht. Um diesen Anforderungen gerecht zu werden, setzten produzierende Unternehmen auf neue oder verbesserte Lager- und Liefersysteme. Eine Kostengünstige Möglichkeit zur Verbesserung von Lager- und Liefersysteme sowie für die Produktionslogistik bietet das sogenannte Kanban-Modell an. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Rahmenbedingungen zur Einführung des Kanban-Systems in der Produktionslogistik zu erläutern und mögliche Einsatzgebiete zu identifizieren. Hierzu wird im zweiten Kapitel zuerst der Begriff Kanban erläutert und auf die Herkunft sowie Geschichte im Allgemeinen eingegangen, um im nächsten Schritt die direkte Verbindung zur Produktionslogistik herzustellen. Im dritten Kapitel werden die Voraussetzungen von Kanban-Systemen in der Produktionslogistik analysiert, um im nächsten Schritt auf die genaue Funktionsweise mit dem dazugehörigen Behältermanagement einzugehen. Auch die Unterscheidung von Kanban-Systemen mit ein oder zwei unterschiedlichen Karten wird vorgenommen. Des Weiteren werden im dritten Kapitel mögliche Anwendungsgebiete von Kanban in der Produktion und die damit zusammenhängenden Vorteile vorgestellt. Der Gegenpart hierzu wird im vierten Kapitel vorgenommen, in dem beschrieben wird, wann sich kein Einsatz von Kaban in der Produktionslogistik eignet. Speziell werden unterschiedliche Produktspektren auf das Kanban-System
