About The Book

Die Islamische Gemeinschaft in Deutschland e.V. (IGD) zählt zu den ältesten Organisationen des islamischen Feldes der Bundesrepublik. In den Jahren ihrer Blütezeit hat sie einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Entwicklung dieses Feldes geleistet und bedeutende Fortschritte für die sunnitischen Muslime in der Bundesrepublik erzielt. Mit innovativen Projekten und viel Idealismus schuf sie eine Infrastruktur für die Glaubenspraxis und baute zu diesem Zweck ein deutschlandweites Netzwerk von angegliederten Islamischen Zentren auf. Ziel der Studie soll es nun sein, nachzuvollziehen, welche internen und externen Einflussfaktoren im islamischen Feld der 1990er Jahre den Bedeutungsverlust der IGD ausgelöst haben. Gemä Bourdieus Kulturtheorie und dessen Feldkonzept, vermochte die IGD im Machtkampf um Rang und Einfluss ihre ehemals dominante Position nicht zu behaupten. Durch die immer zahlreicher werdenden islamischen Organisationen in Deutschland war der Konkurrenzdruck immens gewachsen. Die notwendige Anpassung an den Wandel des Umfeldes hat jedoch nicht stattgefunden oder konnte nicht stattfinden, weshalb die Organisation Legitimitätseinbu en verzeichnet hat. Die kritische Haltung von Politik und medialer Öffentlichkeit und die jährliche Erwähnung der islamistischen IGD in den Verfassungsschutzberichten verhindert zusätzlich die Erfüllung der eigenen Ziele und Projekte. Seit den 1990er Jahren hat die IGD ihre Machtposition im islamischen Feld verloren und führt nun ein Schattendasein. Ihre ehemalige Position wird heute von anderen Organisationen besetzt. Zur Auswertung wurde neben der Sekundärliteratur auch auf eigene Interviews zurückgegriffen, welche unter anderem mit einem hochrangigen Mitglied der Organisation, Wissenschaftlern und Experten geführt wurden. Zusätzlich wurden eigene Publikationen der IGD hinzugezogen, wie etwa die Zeitschrift 'al-Islam' und Veröffentlichung der Islamischen Zentrum Münchens e.V..

Nina Nowar, M.A., geboren 1987, ist Politologin am Institut für Politik und Zeitgeschichte des Nahen Ostens an der Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Ihr Studium der Politik- und Islamwissenschaft (Arabisch und Persisch) schloss die Autorin 2012 mit dem akademischen Grad der Magistra Artium ab. Ihre Forschungen führten sie in viele arabische Länder, darunter Tunesien und Saudi-Arabien, wobei ihr wissenschaftlicher Schwerpunkt im Bereich des Islamismus und Salafismus liegt.
