Mohammad Haand Jafar (Jafar Haand) is a published Afghan author and a prominent journalist. He has written and translated nine books in the Pashto language, three of which focus on Afghanistan and world cricket. From the Streets to Stardom: Rashid Khan is his first book written in English. Jafar has been covering Afghan cricket since 2005 and is recognized as one of its most dedicated storytellers. He has reported on major international cricket events, including four ICC World Cups, the 2024 West Indies T20 World Cup, the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, the 2021–22 U19 World Cup in the West Indies, and the 2019 Cricket World Cup in England and Wales, where he provided exclusive live coverage of Afghanistan’s matches and conducted dozens of interviews with the Afghan players. Throughout these assignments, Jafar spent extensive time with Afghan players, gaining unparalleled access and insight into their journeys both on and off the field.
