About The Book

During the summer of 2024, a group of Christians from my church and other churches read through the New Testament in 90 days. This was followed up by reading through the Law of God (Genesis-Deuteronomy) in 60 days in the fall. I wrote daily devotionals that were sent by text messages to all these believers. These devotionals are presented in this book.

The first five books of the Bible are the foundation and true revelation that you'll need to understand the rest of the Bible. Paul said in Romans 2:20 that "you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth." You cannot even understand much of what Paul, Peter, James, John, Jude, and the writer of Hebrews wrote in the New Testament without knowing the Law of God. Jesus referred to these five books again and again.

In the Law, we have the creation, the fall of man, the genealogy of people and nations, the judgments on the world, Sodom and Gomorrah, and Egypt, the life of Abraham and Moses, the giving of the law and the Ten Commandments, the wilderness wanderings of Israel, and the many laws and sacrifices of the Old Covenant. Again, you cannot really understand much of the New Testament without this knowledge.

The reading schedule proposed in this book is quite simple. Read about three chapters each day in about 20-25 minutes, and you'll finish the entire Law of God in 62 days. The daily reading list is found on pages 127-128 at the end of this book. Read through these important chapters with your wife/husband or a close friend. Hold each other accountable. Pray for the Holy Spirit to open your spiritual eyes.

Here are a few things you'll need. Get a large print Bible (not a study Bible with a bunch of notes). Pick a place you can go to every day that is well-lit (kitchen table, recliner in the living room, home office, or a chair in your backyard/garden). Go there every day at the same time. I think early mornings are the best time. Do your reading before you do anything else. This reading will require discipline, and remember, a disciple of Jesus means a "disciplined follower of Christ."

My prayer is that you will establish a regular discipline of reading the Bible every day for the rest of your life. You will never regret it. We live by every word coming from God's mouth. Jesus Christ is Lord. To God be the glory. Amen.
