Zunehmender Facharbeitermangel in der Bauindustrie und standig steigende Kosten fOr den Bau, den Erhalt und die Sanierung von Bauwerken zwingen die Bauindustrie dazu, vorhandenes Rationalisierungspotential aufzudecken und durch EinfOhrung von teilau- tomatischen oder automatischen Maschinen die Attraktivitiit und Produktivitat dieses Be- rufszweigs zu erhohen. Gerade bei der Sanierung von gemauerten Abwasserkanalen muB unter auBerst schwierigen Bedingungen gearbeitet werden. Die engen Querschnitte lassen nur gebOckte Korperhaltung zu. Der LArm der Frasmaschinen, die hohe Luft- feuchtigkeit und der standige Aufenthalt im Gefahrenbereich des Frasers fOhren dazu, daB durch frOhe ErmOdung des Arbeiters die Qualitat der Arbeit stark schwankt. Diese gemauerten Kanale mOssen saniert werden, da bei etwa 50% der Mortel in den Mauerfugen im Lauf der Jahre korrodierte und dabei undicht wurde bzw. dem Kanal einen Teil seiner mechanischen Festigkeit nahm. Da die verwendeten Kanalklinker da- gegen eine hohe Resistenz gegen die korrosionsfordernden Bedingungen im Kanal zei- gen, soli nur der korrodierte Mortel ersetzt werden. Trotz ihres hohen Alters bildet diese Kanalart noch heute einen festen Bestandteil des offentlichen Kanalnetzes, mit dessen Bau 1842 nach dem groBen Brand im Hamburg begonnen wurde. Um die Selbstreinigungswirkung der gemauerten Kanale zu erhOhen, wurden sie grundsatzlich mit elliptischen Querschnitten mit einem Langen /Breitenver- haltnis von 2 zu 1 gebaut. Nach einer Untersuchung des Bundesforschungsministeriums /1.1/ betragt die Gesarntlange des offentlichen und des privaten Kanalnetzes schatzungsweise 885.000 km. Der Anteil gemauerter Abwasserkanale betragt davon ungefahr 23.000 km.
