You will find as you read through these devotions that they are very personal. The authors, Peggy Strain and Deb King, started sharing their personal beliefs and relationship with the Lord many years ago while participating in the ladies' Sharing and Caring Bible Study Group, which has met in Peggy's home for the past twenty-one years. Their in-depth Bible study and prayer time inspired Peggy and Deb to write devotions. Peggy and Deb began their inspirational collaboration by meeting for church each Sunday, followed by sharing devotions they had written over a cup of coffee at a local restaurant. Initially, they would discuss and edit each other's work, but soon they felt the nudging from the Lord to make their writings into a book. With approximately 40 devotions written, they were ready to self-publish a book entitled Joyful Journey - Inspirational Writings from Above. They typed it at home, printed it, and spiral bound it, giving the book to family and friends and selling them at local book stores and craft shows. Then came their children's book of five stories entitled Bedtime Stories - Saying Goodnight to God. This came about when the Sharing and Caring Bible Study ladies started writing with metaphors that represented each other's personalities and their lives. These metaphors were woven into a children's story format, so that young children could enjoy them, yet their deeper meanings represented the lives of those friends gathered. This book has touched the lives of many children and adults as well. Peggy is a contributing author in My Turn to Care - Encouragement for Caregivers of Aging Parents, and has had a daily devotion published in The Secret Place. She has also been a member of Pennwriters, Inc., a network of writers across Pennsylvania and beyond since it was established in 1988. Peggy is an Elder in the Paris Presbyterian Church ECO in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. Recently, Peggy and Deb began writing together again, this time remotely, e-mailing devotions back and forth. Many hours were spent on the phone and in prayer. They entitled this latest book Reflecting His Light - Devotions Expressing God's Love. Each of these devotions has been written from their hearts and reflects their love for the Lord. Peggy and Deb have discovered through the years that their greatest joy comes when they can share their love for the Lord through the words they write.
