Die These der Arbeit lautet: Die Erz hlung von Borges ist eine Kombination von romantischen Einstellungen zum Autor bzw. zur Autorschaft, vermischt mit der sthetik avantgardistischer K hnheit. Die eigentliche Geschichte ist mit einem Ausdruck der berlegungen und Gedanken- und Emotionen Mitteilungen des Erz hlers umrahmt. Im ersten Absatz bringt er bereits neben zahlreiche wichtigen direkte sowie subtile Informationen auch einen Ausdruck der eigenen emotionalen Einstellung zum Thema. Mit solchen wird auch der Text beendet. Die frequentierte Anwesenheit von Miguel de Cervantes und seinem Don Quijote im OEuvre von Borges in Form von Aufs tzen, berlegungen, Reflexionen oder intertextuellen Verweisen, ist unaufh rlich und un bersehbar. Auch die metafiktionale Kurzgeschichte "Pierre Menard, Autor des Quijote" zieht Don Quijote von Cervantes in ein typisch borgeanisches Spiel mit ein. Mit der Figur von Pierre Menard erschafft Borges eine Art neuen Don Quijote - einen Alonso Quijano der neuen Zeiten - in einem anderen Metier: Menard ist ein Ritter der Literatur des 20.
