Bernice Brown; born in Kansas City Missouri in 1971, is the single mother of three; including a child with Autism. In December 2000, her cousin was tragically killed by gunfire. A few months later she began awakening in the witching hours of the a.m writing. By daybreak she'd have little to no recollection of the content written. Days turned into months and poems began piling up by the hundreds. Shortly after, she began performing in schools, local clubs and soon appeared in the Kansas City Star & Times newspaper. In July of 2001 she moved to Atlanta and quickly evolved into a full fledge poet. Performing provided her; not only the opportunity of hosting at Atlanta's popular poetry venue Apache Café, but also performing at other countless venues in surrounding cities. Creating her own lane, by only reciting on the mic, poems true to her life, she gained a dedicated following of supporters that relate to her testaments. The stage is her pulpit. The audience is her congregation and her poetry is her ministry; as she has been answering her calling every since. She has performed alongside a slew of HBO Def Poets. She's been photographed with hundreds of celebrities. Her signature Mohawk has appeared on hundred of fliers, many magazines and videos. Her stage name Venom has been heard on radio and in the streets by well respected public figures. Wearing many hats, she is an author, poet, motivational speaker for single parents with special needs children, hair model, event model, video model, photographer, earring designer and more. She is currently an Atlanta resident, traveling throughout the southeastern region performing and hosting various shows.
