Leanne Sigvartsen holds bachelor, post graduate, and masters qualifications in Psychology and Counseling specializing in youth and young adult counseling. She is currently concluding PhD studies (Education). For many years Leanne operated her own boutique counseling practice specializing in the treatment of young adults, particularly those who had experienced sexual assault, sexual harassment, bullying, abuse, and discrimination. She possesses professional experience in developing and reviewing accredited tertiary programs which meet competency based learning and assessment protocols. Leanne has designed and project managed a number of major research projects including the Sex and Sensibility study which quantitatively investigated sexism (towards both sexes) in religious populations, the Beyond Beliefs study which qualitatively and quantitatively investigated the attitudes of young adults globally towards the 28 Official Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and the Religious Verbal-Fluidity project, which investigated the socio-cultural attitudes of Christians towards a range of controversial topics including homosexuality, sexual assault, nepotism, apostasy, and free speech within religious organizations. Her Master of Counseling (Research) thesis investigated sexism levels of helping professionals and their efficacy in rehabilitating young adults who had been sexually harassed in the workplace.
