Volker Wittpahl leitet seit dem Jahr 2016 das Institut für Innovation und Technik (iit) in der VDI/VDE-IT. Nach dem Studium der Mikroelektronik in Deutschland und Singapur sammelte er Industrieerfahrungen in den Bereichen Technologiemarketing sowie Innovationsmanagement von Leistungselektronik für die Automobilbranche im Philips-Konzern. Mit seinem Wechsel zu Philips Design nach Eindhoven in den Niederlanden wurde er einer der Entwicklungsverantwortlichen im konzerneigenen interdisziplinären Think Tank. Dort entwickelte er aus den beobachteten Technologie-, Markt- und soziokulturellen Trends neue Produkte, Dienste und Geschäftsfelder für interne und externe Industriekunden. Seit 2014 ist Volker Wittpahl Professor an der Universität Klaipeda in Litauen und initiiert deutsch-baltische Projekte im Wissenstransfer.
