Family life is never easy and when two diverse and different families are forced by circumstances to live in close proximity, sparks fly. Sir Richard and Jonathon Bull as well as their wives and children react over the years to produce surprising and sometimes unwanted results. This is the first of three books about Richards Park and covers the period from 1928 to 1950.

R.D.G.Parry was born and educated in England. From an early age he wanted to farm but the family had few capital resources to be able to buy a working farm. It was an ambition to be realised after he had worked for some years in finance and industry, starting his own company and then selling his shares in 1973. After ten years working as an intensive sheep farmer, he decided to retire and live in Spain where he had aquired a house. He started to write novels in 1979 when his aunt, Hilda Danvers Glasson who had had five books published in the 1930's, suggested that he too should write. His first published novel 'No sense of shame' was quickly followed by 'Floss'. This is his third novel and forms part of a trilogy about 'Richards Park'. The second book in the trilogy is ' ...and the devil too' while the third is 'Heaven and Hell' Mr. Parry is also known for his published poetry, but as he admits, time for writing is short when you work forty hours a week teaching students to speak and enjoy the English language. He is married and he and his present wife, to whom he has been married for more than twenty years, live in north-east Spain after living for eighteen years in Mallorca.
