En los casos crónicos o mal curados, la sintomatología es algo menos intensa y se percibe un dolor de cabeza casi continuo en la zona por donde pasan los senos nasales. Los resfriados agudizan el malestar y los casos más serios producen un olor fétido, casi siempre a causa de un absce¬so alveolar. Si hay fiebre y escalofríos, indicará que la infección se ha extendido. Rinitis Más comúnmente asociada a los trastornos invernales de vías respiratorias altas, la rinitis aguda está causada por bacterias, mientras que la crónica puede ser motivada por diferentes gérmenes o enfermedades generales. También son frecuentes las rinitis atróficas en cuya mucosa interna se forman costras y son frecuentes las epistaxis, así como las vasomotoras que es una variedad de la atrófica pero puede haber secreción y estornudos, y la alérgica. Este libro describe ampliamente ambas enfermedades, así como el tratamiento alternativo más idóneo.
