Buddhist Study and Practice Guide Vol 3 offers the Liturgy of the 7 Day Retreat a classic tantric Chinese service that has all of the Pure Land practices included. It is in large print, includes English, hanyu pinyin, Chinese traditional characters. The format is standard according to Chinese Mahayana traditional services. It is good for home study or can be used in temple or monastery services. The new Western Buddhist can learn about the Mahayana practices by engaging in the 7 day retreat with a group and know exactly what the meaning being the words are and how to properly practice them. If you use it for home study, you can omit the Ignorant Mountain Offering Food Service (done in temples only by monks and nuns) in favor of the short service. It's very good to keep the ancetral lineage walking circle practice, memorizing the ancestral names of our lineage and paying respects in the service helps cultivate support and respect of the Sangha and Triple Jewel. The Clean Altar Ceremony Rules otherwise erroneously known as Liturgy of Asperges(Water Blessing) is included and must be done before the retreat is commenced, so you may want contact your local temple to do this for you. This 7 Day Retreat Service is a meditation of body, mouth and mind. For more information please contact Bhikshuni Ven. About The Author

Ven. Hong Yang is a fully ordained Bhikshuni from the Mahayana Buddhist tradition as it is practiced in China. She has a MA from Iowa State University special study in Buddhism and concentration with a Curriculum Instructional Technology. Meeting her future tonsure master in LA Chinatown, that summer, she arranged a visit in August that was delayed for some reason. She started on the Path after pleas of help in the aftermath of 9/11 and moved to New York where she and a local temple volunteered support for the residents and public. That temple became her tonsure place, Xi Fang Temple in Brooklyn, NY. Training well led to her application and acceptance for full ordination in 2004 by Upadyaya Ven. Pu Miao in Yuan Heng Temple in Taiwan. Acaryani Bhikshuni Ven. Chao Hui was the training Upadhyayani for Bhikshuni Pratimoksa. In her 7th rains and 10 years later, after leaving home, she has completed a re-translation of Buddhist Liturgy by the Ven. Master Lok To; guided in format by his 1993 edition and completed services for the Chinese Buddhist year. She added Hanyu pinyin, corrected English sections and added full translations of Chinese Buddhist Hybrid Sanskrit.
