Narzisstische Selbstausbeutung, Mobilitätsaufgaben, Flexibilität und die Herausforderungen der neuen Medien üben sozialen Druck auf die Eltern aus, lenken ab und belasten ihre psychischen Ressourcen, was wiederum den emotionalen Dialog mit ihren Kindern verändert oder gar zerstört. Erleben Kinder selbst Vernachlässigung und mangelnde emotionale Bindung - und damit fehlende Selbstregulationsfähigkeit - sind Risikoverhaltensweisen die Folge.

Das Buch kombiniert verschiedene Sichtweisen aus dem psychologischen, sozialen und metatheoretischen Bereich. Es besteht aus drei Teilen: Entwicklungsprobleme junger Menschen, Diagnose von Risikoverhaltensweisen im nosologischen Rahmen und Darstellung der neuen Morbidität mit einer Zunahme der Symptomprävalenz. Das Buch erörtert auch die Bedrohung durch die Beschleunigung der sozialen Prozesse und die Risiken der postmodernen Gesellschaft.

Prof. Dr. med. Franz Resch: wissenschaftliche und klinische Ausbildung an der Universität Wien auf dem Gebiet der Psychiatrie und der Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie. Seit 1993 Lehrstuhl für Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie an der Medizinischen Fakultät der Universität Heidelberg. Leiter der Klinik für Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie am Universitätsklinikum Heidelberg. 2001-2003 Vorsitzender der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie. 1999-2013 Vorsitzender der Deutschen Liga für das Kind. Wissenschaftliche Schwerpunkte: Entwicklungspsychopathologie, Adoleszenz, Trauma, Risikoverhalten und Persönlichkeitsentwicklung.

Dipl. Psych. Peter Parzer: Abschluss des Studiums der Psychologie an der Universität Wien. Seit 1993 Biometriker an der Klinik für Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie, Medizinische Fakultät der Universität Heidelberg. Wissenschaftliche Interessen: Statistische Methodik, Kontrolltheorie, Kybernetik.
