Um diese bestehen zu können, ist eine stetige Optimierung der eigenen Strukturen und Prozesse notwendig. Hohe Chancen verspricht die Automatisierungstechnologie Robotic Process Automation (RPA). Das Ziel der vorliegenden Abschlussarbeit ist es, die Automatisierungspotenziale mittels RPA in kleinen und mittelgro en Banken in Deutschland zu untersuchen. Die zugrunde liegenden Forschungsfragen lauten: Wie ist der Stand und die Bereitschaft zum Einsatz von RPA? Welche Herausforderungen gibt es bei der Einführung von RPA und wie lässt sich RPA in Banken umsetzen? Um diese Forschungsfragen zu beantworten, wurde eine quantitative Studie in Deutschlands Banken durchgeführt. Auf dieser Basis wurden zuvor aufgestellte Hypothesen statistisch überprüft. Darüber hinaus wurde bei einer kleinen Genossenschaftsbank eine Fallstudie durchgeführt. Als Ergebnis wurde eine Scoring-Tabelle zur Identifizierung von RPA-Potenzialen ausgearbeitet. Im Anschluss wurde die Scoring-Tabelle bei den Anweisungen der Bank angewendet. Hieraus wurde eine RPA-Prozesspotenzial-Matrix sowie eine RPA-Prozesspotenzial-Heatmap abgeleitet. Des Weiteren wurden ausgewählte Muster-Use-Cases für die Automatisierung betrachtet. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass sich auch in kleinen bis mittelgro en Banken gro e Potenziale für die Automatisierung mittels RPA verbergen. Besonders in den Kernprozessen der Bank befinden sich die grö ten Potenziale. Darüber hinaus wird RPA nicht zum Abbau von Personal eingesetzt, sondern zur Steigerung der Mitarbeiterkapazitäten für wertschöpfende Tätigkeiten und Erhöhung der Nettomarktzeit von Beratern.
