La produzione di calcestruzzo si sta orientando verso le sabbie artificiali a causa della diminuzione delle risorse di sabbia naturale e delle restrizioni ambientali sull'estrazione della sabbia di fiume. La sabbia fabbricata differisce da quella naturale per la forma delle particelle, la consistenza, la granulometria e il contenuto di fini, in particolare il materiale che passa il setaccio n. 200. Gli standard attuali limitano il contenuto di limo in base alla sabbia naturale, costringendo i produttori a lavare eccessivamente gli aggregati, aumentando i costi e l'impatto ambientale. Questo studio analizza l'effetto di un maggiore contenuto di limo (0-15%) nella sabbia fabbricata sul calcestruzzo fresco e indurito con rapporti acqua-cemento di 0,58, 0,54 e 0,45, che rappresentano il calcestruzzo normale, intermedio e ad alta resistenza. Sono state valutate la lavorabilit�, la finitura e la resistenza alla compressione. I problemi di lavorabilit� sono stati mitigati regolando il rapporto acqua-cemento piuttosto che con additivi chimici. I risultati mostrano che il calcestruzzo con un contenuto di limo fino al 15% pu� mantenere o migliorare la lavorabilit� e la resistenza, evidenziando la necessit� di riconsiderare gli attuali limiti del contenuto di limo negli standard per le sabbie artificiali.
