A lo largo de la historia de la Iglesia se han planteado diversas respuestas a este problema: Fe insuficiente. Falta de fuerza de voluntad. Santificaci�n incompleta. Sin embargo, todas estas respuestas imaginan un tipo de progreso en el que nos desprendemos de nuestro antiguo "pecador" y experimentamos una especie de metamorfosis en el nuevo "santo". Pero coincide realmente esta explicaci�n con lo que experimentamos? Se cumple consistentemente este principio operativo en las vidas de los grandes h�roes de la fe? Y lo m�s importante: est� realmente en l�nea con todo el consejo de Dios? Qu� pasar�a si hubiera otra opci�n, una forma de entendernos a nosotros mismos que evitara las explicaciones simplistas del tipo "o esto o aquello" y propusiera un enfoque m�s honesto del tipo "ambos y"? Qu� pasar�a si hubiera una manera de ser realistas acerca de nuestros fracasos y al mismo tiempo insistir en que, en Cristo, ellos no nos definen?
