Sati: an Indian Woman is a historical novel. It is about life of little Sati amidst all social dogmas in 16th century India. The story bespeaks her life from infancy to womanhood and gives a detailed researched study of former India and the status of women and the poor. It not only is a regular criticism of the society but also the way of perceiving religion and how very often religion has simply been used by people in society for seeking their own interests and the novel relates to the biases of religion as perceived by the present generation, even today.

Sudipta Jana is an Indian Novelist whose debut novel Sati: An Indian Woman has been released from Amazon, Charleston SC after she won the National Novel Writing Month international challenge of aspiring novelists to jot down a novel of 50,000 words in just 30 days. The author got published at the age of 18 and aspires to become an author and or a professor. She's pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and wants to live her entire life committed to the cause of serving the poor and the deprived irrespective of class and society. It is also her dream to see her country and the entire world change for the better. The reason she's chosen to write historical novels with precedence is that she wants to reach young people like her and encourage others not to scorn but try to love the country by changing the world around them. Besides writing her hobbies are painting, sketching, reading books and music. She looks up to her Guruji and exclusively recognizes him along with her parents as her constant inspiration and devotion towards humanity. She participates in The International Museum of Women and looks forward to join PEN International and work for the cause of freedom.
