Lenzen, Erziehungswissenschaftler und Präsident der Universität Hamburg, spricht von einer Renaissance des Ästhetischen, die bis heute andauert und Philosophieprofessor Vo kühler sieht in den ästhetischen Überlegungen Kants und Schillers gar den Ursprung einer Art neuer Religiosität - der Kunst als einer neuen Mythologie im Zeitalter der Moderne. Es scheint, als strebe der oft gepriesene Fortschritt, Motor von Wirtschaft und Politik, ebenfalls zu einer Formvollendung. Es ist nicht mehr der blo e Zweck, an dem die Gesamtheit von etwas gemessen wird - sondern auch sein Design, seine Architektur - kurzum seine Schönheit. Es ist davon auszugehen, dass der Titel dieser Arbeit aufgrund seiner ungewöhnlichen Verknüpfung einer Staatstheorie mit dem transzendenten Begriff der Schönheit zunächst Verwirrung stiften wird. Hierzu sei angemerkt, dass bereits seine Zeitgenossen Schillers Abhandlung daher auch als erste politische Ästhetik verstanden [haben]. Bei der Frage nach der Kunstschönheit als Voraussetzung für politische Freiheit handelt es sich also um eine leichte Modifikation der Schillerschen Hauptthese in den Briefen über die ästhetische Erziehung des Menschen, die den Hauptteil der Arbeit bestimmen und kritisch beleuchtet werden sollen. Der Fokus dieser Arbeit liegt also auf dem letzten gro en Ästhetikprojekt Schillers, der seinerzeit, wenn auch fachfremd, wesentliche Anstö e und Beiträge zur philosophischen Forschung geleistet hat, indem er die Kanti
