Es soll erörtert werden, welches die zentralen Prozesse sind und welche Ziele diese beinhalten. Im Rahmen dieser Ausarbeitung soll die Frage beantwortet werden, ob Taylor mit seiner perfektionistischen Betriebsführung ökonomischen Erfolg hatte und welche sozialen Konsequenzen mit dem Taylorismus einhergingen. Um das Scientific Management in Gänze verstehen zu können, müssen die historischen Faktoren des späten neunzehnten und die des frühen zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts analysiert werden. Speziell werden Schlagwörter wie: Faustregeln, Prosperität und Soldering, mit Bezug auf das durch die Industrialisierung veränderte Menschenbild soziologisch erklärt. Positive und negative Begleiterscheinungen sind hierbei mit Distanz abzuwägen. Funktionskontrollmeistersysteme und der zur Maschine gewordene Mensch stehen im kompletten Gegensatz zu einem psychologisch stabilen Arbeiter, sind jedoch beide fester Bestandteil der Industrialisierung. Eine Aufgabe der Arbeit ist es, dieses Spannungsverhältnis zu erläutern und verständlich zu machen. Der Taylorismus wurde in der zweiten Dekade des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts stark kritisiert und auch noch heute wird der Begriff negativ verwendet. Wie negativ und wie wissenschaftlich dieses revolutionäre System überhaupt ist, wird festzustellen sein. Die Industrialisierung zog eine immense technische Weiterentwicklung der Produktion von Gütern mit sich. Diese Weiterentwicklung, sowie das Gro wachstum der Industrieanlagen und das vielseitige Angebot der Arbeitskräfte machten den Taylorismus überhaupt erst nötig.
