Vor dem Hintergrund eines stetigen Prozesses des Wandels in der Arbeitswelt und der Arbeitskultur wird die Notwendigkeit, sich an die neuen Herausforderungen anzupassen, immer entscheidender. Dieser Veränderungsdruck ist zwangsläufig für den Erfolg der Unternehmen. In diesem Zusammenhang nimmt das Mantra Business Agility einen immer bedeutenderen Stellenwert für das Management im 21. Jahrhundert ein. Dabei geht es um die laufenden Verbesserungen und Innovationen in einem dynamischen Umfeld. Zudem sollen vorhandene Chancen ausgenutzt und zusätzliche Möglichkeiten entdeckt werden, um diese als Wettbewerbsvorteil einzusetzen. Zudem gelingt eine effektive Vorstrukturierung von Arbeitsprozessen durch die immer komplexer werdenden Aufgabenstellungen und den Anstieg an Wissensarbeit nicht immer. Daher fällt der Blick verstärkt auf teambasierte Organisationsformen zur kooperativen Bearbeitung von komplexen Arbeitsaufgaben. Für diese Art des Wandels sollen selbstorganisierte Teams besonders geeignet sein. In selbstorganisierter Teamarbeit wird die effektive Zusammenarbeit verbunden mit der Verwirklichung von Autonomie und dem Wunsch das Beste aus der eigenen Expertise zu machen.
