Gunnam, Kiran: - Kiran Gunnam currently works as a Technologist at Storage Architecture Research Group of Western Digital Corporation. He was previously Director of Engineering at Violin Memory and also held R&D positions at Nvidia, Blackberry, LSI Corporation, Marvell Semiconductor, Schlumberger, and Intel. Dr. Gunnam is an expert in IC implementation of communications and signal processing systems. His PhD research contributed several key innovations in advanced error correction systems based on low-density parity- check codes (LDPC) and led to several industry designs. He has done extensive work on algorithms and integrated circuits for many applications (including IEEE 802.11n Wi-Fi, IEEE 802.16e WiMax, IEEE 802.3 10-GB, Holographic read channel, Hard-disk drive read channel, and Flash read channel). Dr. Gunnam has over 60 patents with several others pending. He was an IEEE Solid State Circuits Society Distinguished Lecturer for 2013 and 2014. He received the MSEE and PhD in Computer Engineering from Texas A&M University.
Vahidfar, Mohammad: - Mohammad (Vahid) VahidFar received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Sharif and Tehran Universities in 2002 and 2007 respectively. He worked on data converters and delta-sigma DAC at Marsemai Co for 2004-2005. From 2005, he was with Università di Pavia in Italy, as a visiting student working on CMOS reconfigurable receivers for 1-6GHz rang. In 2007, he got a post-doctoral position with Università di Pavia, in cooperation with STMicroelectronics, Pavia, working on UWB receivers and mmW circuits targeting 60GHz. He joined SiTune Corporation, San Jose, CA in 2009 working on highly integrated TV tuners for cable, mobile and satellite systems. From 2011 he was with Applied Micro Systems, Sunnyvale CA, working on high speed SerDes and CDR circuits for 100Gbps CMOS DQPSk transceivers. He joined Qualcomm Corp, San Jose CA, in 2013 working on RFIC circuit design for wireless applications including LTE, BT LE and 802.11x standards. He is currently with Apple Inc working on Analog, Mixed signal and RF circuits and systems. Dr. VahidFar has over 25 patents published with several pending patents. He served as Santa Clara SSCS chair for 2014 and 2015.
