About The Book

Setting Forth--on a Literary Itinerary, an online literary magazine, publishes a yearly anthology. In this year's book are the works of 40 authors all living in or near Eugene, Oregon. These works were selected by the authors themselves and by their readers throughout the world. Everybody voted on the best works from among more than 200 stories, poems and memoirs published online in the previous year. One of our authors writes "wordsongs." Another tells you about what it was like to be a woman in the Peace Corps in the 60s. Several use writing as an aide to recovery from catastrophic events or situations. Still others write just to be entertaining. Here is a sampling of titles: "Expendable Unit," "To be a Forest," "Nike," "God Lives in a Nursing Home in Wisconsin," "Later in Life my Feet Find Delight," "Sing," and "An Undefined Dimension." We have collections of adventure and historical fiction and science fiction, memoir, several personal essays, and all kinds of poetry: love, history, fantasy, humor, philosophy, nature, spirituality and war. About The Author

Katharine Valentino is the editor of the online literary magazine Setting Forth-on a Literary Itinerary and of its yearly anthologies. She has more than two decades of experience as a newspaper reporter and newspaper managing editor, a magazine features writer, a technical communicator, a memoir editor and a publisher. She has a bachelor's degree in journalism "with high distinction" from Indiana University at Bloomington and joint IBM/Brainbench master's level certifications in Written English and English vocabulary. Now retired from full-time work, Katharine stays busy editing everything from news articles to poetry. When she has the time and inclination, she writes, mostly creative nonfiction.
