Set before the events in "Away Vol 1: Beginnings", "Sevanport" tells the story of the Kindred, a group of people blessed with amazing abilities. Although they live among us, their haven is Sevanport, an otherworldly city whose existence is intertwined with the Pacific Northwest region of Seattle, Vancouver and Portland. Through the ages, they've used their gifts to help mankind; and their latest undertaking is their most crucial yet: To ensure the awakening of similar abilities across all of humanity. To do so, however, they must solve the mystery of Lightfoot, an enigmatic being with the power to single-handedly destroy the Kindred and their haven.

Norman Oro is Filipino-American. He was born in the Philippines in 1971 then moved with his parents, German and Paulina, to the USA in 1974. His family is from Luzon. Although he respects all cultures, he has no African, Chinese, European, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Latin or Middle-Eastern ancestry. Likewise, he respects all musical genres, but primarily listens to rock 'n' roll. His interests include finance, technology (he created an iPhone app called SkyFriend as a hobby), world affairs, foreign languages (mostly Filipino, German and Spanish), volleyball, movies (he admires the profession, but is not an actor) and music. Norm grew up an only child in San Gabriel, CA. He graduated from Bosco Tech in Rosemead, CA (high school '88), UCLA (BA Economics '93) and the Sloan School at MIT (MBA '00). After UCLA, he worked in finance and economics for over 10 years. He wrote science-fiction ("Away: Beginnings", "Away: Keepers of the Alliance", "The Legend of Team 9", "Tales of Section Zero", "Sevanport") and a finance ebook, "Basics of Financial Reporting & Analysis for Small to Medium-Sized Businesses", to fulfill his dream of being an author.
