Within the framework of searching for belonging and validation, Vanderlaan explores a variety of topics - growing up in a divorced family, falling in love, giving and receiving broken hearts, losing the way and finding regret, the ache of letting go, wrestling with forgiveness and hope and trust. When the dust settles, these frayed ends of family, romance, and spirituality tangle together. The result is in an incomplete yet beautiful display, a portrait of the fearful desire to know and be known, to love and be loved, to seek and find and be found.

About The Author

Trained in the dark arts of poetry, T. Jason Vanderlaan has cultivated many time-honored techniques and shady qualities. He is self-serious, self-aggrandizing, self-absorbed, and, most importantly, self-deprecating. On a side note, he exhibits great affection for words, and is an avid proponent of artistry and creativity. T. Jason Vanderlaan is also the author of Unspoken Confessions, the first book in the DarkLight series, which wrestles with sexual addiction, lust, and what it means to pursue purity while dating. More than that, it is an attempt at honesty - we all struggle with flaws of our own and with receiving the grace of God. Unspoken Confessions is a call to find light in the darkness and to allow God to create a new heart in us as we seek to develop healthy relationships.
