Sie geht der Frage nach, ob und in welcher Form eine oder beide der untersuchten Organisationen nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg die Sicherheit kontinuierlich stabilisieren konnte, und in wieweit die vorhandenen Strukturen geeignet sind, nach den geopolitischen Umwälzungen der frühen Neunziger Jahre des vergangenen Jahrhunderts eine fundierte und dauerhafte gesamteuropäische Sicherheitsarchitektur zu bilden. Durch das Aufzeigen unterschiedlicher Funktionsanlagen und Strukturen beider Institutionen wird die These eines mindestens mittelfristig bestehenbleibenden Dualismus der europäischen Sicherheitsinstitutionen gestützt. Abstract The paper is headlined "Security Structures in Europe after World War II- NATO and CSCE/OSCE as Guarantors of Stability?". It covers the question if, and in what form one or both of the Organisations under investigation could continually provide for stable security after World War II., and how much the present structures are qualified to build a substantial and lasting security architecture for Europe in its entirety after the revolutions in the early nineties. By emphasizing the different layouts and structures of both institutions the thesis of an at least medium-term dualism of both European Security Institutions is supported.
