Die- se neuen Verfahren und die damit entwickelten Simulations- programme wurden groBtenteils in englischsprachigen Fachar- tikeln beschrieben. Das vorlie ende Buch ist ein Versuch, neben den klassi3chen Verfahren auch die neuen Verfahren der Timing-, Mixed-Mode-, Swi tch-JJevel-Logik-Simulation und der 'llaveform-Relaxation in einheitlicher Form darzustellen. Da sich bei einigen der neuen Verfahren erst in der Praxis erweisen muB, ob sie den Anforderungen bezuglich Simulationsgeschwindigkeit und -ge- nauigkei t genugen, wurde \\'eniger, 'lert auf die Darstellung implementierungsspezifischer Details gelegt, als vielmehr auf die Darstellung der zugrundeliegenden Prinzipien. Entstanden ist dieses Buch aus einer Vorlesung, die ich an der Universitat Kaiserslautern halte. Der vorliegende Band ist jedoch nicht nur als Lehrbuch, sondern auch als Hilfe fur den praktischen Einsatz von Simulationsprogrammen ge- dacht. Zu diesem Zweck wurden Hinweise aufgenommen, wie 3chwie- rickeiten behoben werden konnen, die erfahrungsgemaB bei der Amvendung von 3imulationsprogrammen auftreten. Neben den deutschen Bezeichnungen wird die englische Terminologie auf- gefUhrt, urn zusammen mit zahlreichen Literaturverweisen den Zugang zu weiterfuhrender Literatur Zu erleichtern. Beweise von Satzen 1Ilerden nur dann gebracht, wenn die Beweisfuhrung VI das Verstandnis des beschriebenen Sachverhalts unterstutzt; andernfalls wird auf entsprechende Literaturstellen verw- sen.
