About The Book

I could never escape the love of dragons, nature and magic and often scribble concepts and notes in my sketchbook. I've come to find an intense love for texture and a multitude of mediums over the last several years and I'm over the moon excited to share my process and growth in that time.

The Process of creating a painting or illustration is just as important to me as the finished piece. This book filled with bold paint strokes and scribbly musings, documents my artistic journey through the years 2020 and 2021.

"Sketchbooks: The Plague years" will take you into a textural adventure of fantastical creatures, twisted concept art, and strong characters that only exist within our imaginations.

In this book you will find never before seen sketches and concepts from the years 2020-2021 in addition to full illustrations and paintings from what I like to call "the plague years".

This book covers a wide range of subjects and mediums including graphite, watercolor, digital paintings and oil paintings.

She lives in the wilds of Washington along with her husband and 4 furry balls of chaos. Creatures and monster art being a specific highlight, Kayla's art is inspired by texture, nature, and the supernatural. Getting lost in the details of an image has become a meditative pastime. Kayla is actively working to continue growing as an artist, experience travel, and create stories through imagery.
