This book is the result of the Art Education graduation course finalised in 2002, in which it reports on the experience with the Africatarina Group, made up of art researchers and teachers linked to the Santa Catarina State University (UDESCCEART) and the Afro-descendant Community of Florian�polis/SC. The experience presents a little of the group's history and the partnership with the Maur�cio Sirotsky Sobrinho Foundation (FMSS), which gave rise to the Arte-Cidadania Programme. Through enjoyable reading, the author explains a scenario for the artistic development of children, by creating opportunities for them to critically and constructively appropriate the social and cultural content of their community, exchanging experiences and sharing knowledge, outlined by the principles of education for life through art.
