Soft Computing with MATLAB Programming is a textbook designed for undergraduate students of computer science, information technology, electrical and electronics, and electronics and communication engineering as well as those pursuing an MCA degree. It aims to familiarize students with soft computing fundamentals and approaches to solving real-world problems.

It provides a comprehensive coverage of all the major constituents of soft computing, viz., expert systems, neural networks, fuzzy logic, and evolutionary computation including evolutionary algorithms, genetic algorithms, and swarm intelligence techniques. Most of the swarm-based algorithms have been implemented and explained in an easy step-by-step approach using MATLAB programming.

The book offers exhaustive coverage on artificial neural networks (ANNs) and fuzzy logic. Beginning with an overview of Soft Computing, it discusses in detail the ANN tracking in all the three generations of neural networks and their developments. These are followed by a detailed discussion on fuzzy logic and its features and applications, and genetic algorithm operators such as crossover and mutation with suitable examples and illustrations. Finally, swarm intelligent systems are illustrated in detail, discussing the engineering applications of particle swarm intelligent systems.

MATLAB codes have been used throughout the text to illustrate the applications of the concepts discussed
