About The Book

The arbitrary exploitation of natural resources and ignorance of the deleterious effects have resulted in the alarming increase of environmental pollution alongside the urbanization, industrialization and changing agricultural practices. The resulting solid waste, sewage and night soil pose the most daunting and widespread of all environmental problems. The disposal of the incessant piling of such waste requires proper Solid and Hazardous Waste Management. The present book provides a broad overview of environmental issues and impacts; latest trends and technologies in hazardous waste treatment; site assessment; landfilling, storage, handling, transportation and disposal of solid wastes; waste minimization and medical/biomedical and infectious waste management. In addition, it explores waste site remediation and clean-up technologies, and new and continuing regulatory and policy statutes. About The Author

S.C. Bhatia, a Chemical Engineer from BITS, Pilani and also an MBA, is a consultant in Environmental and Pollution Control, Energy Conservation and Polymer Sciences. He has worked in various petrochemical plants in production planning, maintenance, quality control etc. He has authored books on subjects ranging from chemical process industries, plastic and rubber technology to perfume, soaps and cosmetics. His area of specialisation includes air and water pollution, energy conservation, rubber, plastics and biosciences. He has contributed numerous papers on chemical and allied subjects in chemical journals of repute. Among his published books, Textbook of Noise Pollution and Its Control, Textbook of Biotechnology, Managing Industrial Pollution, Industrial Chemistry, Perfume Soap and Cosmetics, Chemical Process Industries have earned great reputation.
