Die theoretischen Hintergründe sollen aufzeigen, auf welcher Innovation die Erfindung des Bitcoins fu t und weshalb Cryptocurrencies im Allgemeinen öffentlich und politisch immer deutlicher an Relevanz gewonnen haben. In dieser Relation ist besonders wichtig, einen multiperspektivischen Ansatz zu wählen, um die Motivation verschiedener Parteien zu analysieren. Die Investitionen im Bereich der Cryptocurrencies, insbesondere Bitcoin, haben im Laufe der Jahre immer weiter zugenommen. Staaten sowie zentrale Institutionen warnen Anleger vor den möglichen Risiken und raten von Investitionen in diese Assets ab. Verbunden mit dieser Grundhaltung initiieren Länder Gesetze und Regularien, um die Investition in Cryptocurrencies zu reduzieren. Einige Länder haben vereinzelt bereits Teil-oder ganzheitliche Verbote ausgesprochen. Die politische Aktivität, welche auf die Regulierung der Cryptocurrencies abzielt, sollte kritisch betrachtet werden. Um die Forschungsfrage zu beantworten, inwiefern ein Verbot der Cryptocurrency Bitcoin angemessen und sinnvoll ist, muss die Thematik in einem sozialen, geld- und geopolitischen Kontext analysiert und ausgewertet werden. Dafür ist gleicherma en wichtig, die Motive der Erfindung des Bitcoins sowie dessen zentrale Funktionsweise zu betrachten. Die Beweggründe aus staatlicher Sicht, BTC zu verbieten, liegt in grundlegenden Strukturen des Geld-und Finanzsystems, in der die Etablierung paralleler Währungen grundsätzlich bedrohlich für die Stabilität des eigenen Systems wahrgenommen wird.
