The poems in the book, Songs of the Crystal Bird reflect fragile emotions and strong memories. Geeta Madhavan has been inspired by the experiences of friends, strangers, and random persons. These poems are pensive, passionate, euphoric and sorrowful.

This book has mystical poems, poems of betrayal and poems of hope of which some are cheerful and some are dark. The poems carry powerful imageries of Nature and bold emotions. They deal with various subjects: love, gender, mysticism, esotericism and terrorist violence. These poems are reflective of the times we live in.

Geeta Madhavan is a lawyer practicing in Chennai with a Ph.D in International law. Besides teaching International law as a guest faculty at various Universities and colleges, she is also the President of the think tank International Law and Strategic Analysis Institute (ILSAI). She writes on strategic and security matters in the national and international newspapers and journals.

Her love for poetry began early in school as an editor of her school magazine and later while doing her B.A.in English Literature.

She has published numerous articles and has authored books on International law and on subjects of international strategic and security concerns. Geeta has also written a series of articles on Chennai landmarks for the local paper -Madras Musings and writes on her personal blog: some-whimsical-notes-of-geeta. Geeta has travelled extensively both in India and abroad. She is also a well-respected and noted speaker. She lives in Chennai with her husband Madhavan and their son Niranjan
