About The Author

John Tyndall (1820–1893) was a renowned Irish physicist known for his groundbreaking work in diamagnetism and infrared radiation. In 1859, he was the first to demonstrate the link between atmospheric CO₂ and the greenhouse effect. Born in Leighlinbridge, Ireland, Tyndall began his career as a draftsman for the Ordnance Survey and later worked in railway construction. Driven by intellectual ambition, he transitioned to science education and research, studying in Germany under leading physicists. From 1853 to 1887, he was a professor at the Royal Institution in London, where he also popularized experimental physics through widely read science books.
