Wenn man an Ausdrücke denkt wie: "Jemand hat seine Grenze überschritten", "grenzt sich aus", "wird in seine Grenzen verwiesen" oder "in seinen Grenzen leben" wird deutlich, dass Grenzen nicht nur Objekte und Flächen trennen, sondern auch soziale Beziehungen beschränken, "voneinander abgrenzen". Der in Konstanz direkt an der Schweizer Grenze lebenden Person Dr. B wurde folgende erste Frage gestellt: "Was fällt ihnen denn spontan zum Thema Nachbarschaft ein? Zu dem Begriff Nachbarschaft?". Nun, was antwortet jemand auf diese Frage und was sagt dies aus über seine Identität, die Art wie er die Welt wahrnimmt und darauf aufbauend denkt und handelt? Die Antwort ist etwas versteckt, man findet sie zwischen den Zeilen. Erst das auch Zwischen-den- Zeilen-Lesen einer hermeneutischen Herangehensweise überraschte den Autor mit der Antwort. Nach welchen Mustern/Prozessen sich sozialer Sinn in der Handlungsfolge, beziehungsweise der Textsequenz aufbaut ist ein weiteres Untersuchungsziel der vorliegenden Analyse. Nach dieser Identifikation idealtypischer Handlungs- und Denkmuster der interviewten Person abstrahiere ich von einzelnen Mustern und gehe deutend der Frage nach, welche sozialen Faktoren, oder auch prägende Vergangenheitserfahrungen als sogenannte "root causes" ursächlich wirken könnten. Diese Verbindung zwischen individuellen Handlungs- und Kognitionsmustern mit sozialen Faktoren wirft abschlie end die Frage auf, inwiefern die beschriebenen Muster für Gesellschaftsmitglieder mit gleicher oder ähnlicher sozialer Konstellation generalisierbar sind.
