Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Soziale Arbeit / Sozialarbeit, Note: 1,7, Technische Universität Dortmund (Institut für Sozialpädagogik, Erwachsenenbildung und Pädagogik der frühen Kindheit), Veranstaltung: Neue Ansätze in der Familienarbeit, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Wesentlich für die volle Teilhabe am gesellschaftlichen Leben sind Sprach- und Schriftsprachkompetenz (vgl. Ring 2003, S. 17). Gegenwärtig werden jedoch bei 10 bis 15 Prozent der Kinder im Vorschulalter mit deutscher Muttersprache sowie bei 20 bis 30 Prozent der Kinder mit Migrationshintergrund oder aus sozioökonomisch benachteiligten bzw. bildungsfernen Schichten Sprachentwicklungsprobleme konstatiert (vgl. Fried/Briedigkeit 2008, S. 7). Des Weiteren unterstreichen die Ergebnisse der IGLU-Studie 2006 das, worauf bereits die PISA-Studie 2000 hingewiesen hat, nämlich, dass Bildung immer noch stark an die soziale Herkunft gekoppelt ist. Kinder aus sozial ungünstigeren Verhältnissen sowie Kinder mit Migrationshintergrund besitzen durchschnittlich schlechtere Leistungen im Lesen und Schreiben als Kinder aus sozial günstigeren Verhältnissen oder ohne Migrationshintergrund (vgl. Schwippert et al. 2007, S. 266). Geringere schriftsprachliche Leistungen werden insbesondere auf die "Erfahrungsarmut" (Holler 2002, S. 122) im Umgang mit Sprache, Schrift und Büchern in der Familie zurückgeführt. In der vorliegenden Hausarbeit wird eine im deutschen Raum noch recht unbekannte und wenig verbreitete Konzeption der familienorientierten Bildungsarbeit vorgestellt, nämlich das Konzept "Familiy Literacy", welches seinen Schwerpunkt auf die Sprach- und Literacyförderung in der Familie in Zusammenarbeit mit Kindertageseinrichtungen und Schule legt und sich gezielt an Familien in benachteiligten Lebenslagen richtet (vgl. Nickel 2007, S. 70). Diese Konzeption erkennt das Faktum an, dass die Familie der fundamentale Bildungsort der Kinder ist und unterstützt die Entwicklung von eben den Kompetenzen, welche die
