In der wissenschaftlichen Diskussion steht demgegen�ber das Konzept der Standardnorm und ihrer Entwicklung im Fokus.

Das Arbeitsbuch versteht sich als Einf�hrung in den Gegenstand der Norm und Normierung des Franz�sischen. Dazu werden zun�chst das Konzept von 'Norm' bzw. 'Standard' und die Ausgestaltung des normativen Diskurses diskutiert, um daran anschlie end die Geschichte der Normierung in Frankreich nachzuzeichnen. In diesem Kontext (werden) wird die Entwicklung des bon usage ebenso aufgegriffen wie die Krise des Franz�sischen oder auch das Verh�ltnis von Normierung und Sprachgebrauch in den (neuen) Medien. Des Weiteren wird die Relevanz der Acad�mie fran�aise f�r die Normierung diskutiert, die zwischen Symbolik und tats�chlichem Einfluss oszilliert.

Zudem wird Sprachnormierung in den Kontext der Sprachkritik und der Plurizentrik gestellt und so die Existenz normativer Zentren, wie Qu�bec, f�r das Franz�sische er�rtert. Das Arbeitsbuch bietet somit eine umfassende Einf�hrung in einen Bereich, der f�r Studierende und zuk�nftige Lehrende des Franz�sischen als grundlegend (angesehen wird) gelten kann.
