About The Book

Bei der vorliegenden Veröffentlichung handelt es sich um die erweiterte und mit Belegen versehene Wiedergabe eines Vortrags, den ich am 16. Juli 1952 in der Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Forschung des Landes Nordrhein- Westfalen in Düsseldorf zu halten die Ehre hatte. Der Vortrag ist für den Druck jedoch um einige Stellen erweitert worden. Zu der Karte, welche sich am Schlu der Abhandlung befindet, sei fol- gendes bemerkt. Die Karte beruht auf Entwürfen von P. itmilian Lügsten- mann, der viele Jahre im südlichen Tanganyika-Gebiet lebte und wirkte, lind von P. Chlodwig Hornung und P. Tharsitius Fath, die noch jetzt in diesem Gebiet tätig sind. Ihnen allen sei für ihre Bemühungen der herz- lichste Dank ausgesprochen. Ich habe aber auch die Stammeskarte des "Tanganyika-Atlas" zu Rate gezogen. Gezeichnet wurde die Karte von Herrn Pape, dem ich ebenfalls meinen verbindlichsten Dank sage. Nach- drücklich sei betont, da es im allgemeinen nicht möglich ist, scharfe Gren- zen zwischen den Wohngebieten der Stämme zu ziehen, da also die Grenz- linien im allgemeinen nur Annäherungswert haben. Die Stämme sind in der letzten Zeit immer mehr durcheinander geraten. Die Bilder stammen von mir, mit Ausnahme einiger weniger, die Herr Abt Burkhardt Utz zur Verfügung zu stellen die Güte hatte. Auch ihm sei herzlichst gedankt. Au er den Bildern, die unmittelbar auf das Thema Bezug haben, sind auch einige aufgenommen worden, die den Charakter des Landes und seiner Bewohner erkennen lassen. An den Vortrag schlo sich eine zweistündige Diskussion, die von Frau Kultusminister Teusch geleitet wurde.
