The book is also suitable for leaders of astronomy clubs, and for those introducing astronomy as a particular topic in schools or to the public.

Hedges, Karen: - From standing under a tree at primary school to witness a partial solar eclipse through the Space Age of the 1970s through to being up and about at 3 am on a family holiday to view a meteor shower, Karen maintains her lifelong love of space, particularly the Moon and planets. As a volunteer at the Norman Lockyer Observatory, Karen has many years' experience of helping both adults and children understand what it is they are observing. In the young people's section, she used a variety of slides, posters, and practical activities with which to engage her audience. She is a trained telescope presenter in the use and explanation of one of the historic telescopes and deems it a privilege to be able to do this. Her work as a teaching assistant has also informed the approach she takes in this guide to the stars and more. She is an active STEM ambassador, promoting maths and science by giving talks at her local library and scout groups as well as the Observatory.
