Ein Schwerpunkt ist dabei die Untersuchung von Phasen�berg�ngen. Die Rolle der Renormierungsgruppe bei Phasen�berg�ngen zweiter Art wird ausf�hrlich vorgestellt. Im dritten Teil werden die Grundlagen der Quantenstatistik entwickelt. Neben Standard-Anwendungen werden auch wieder weiterf�hrende Themen behandelt, beispielsweise der Beweis des Mermin-Wagner-Theorems f�r Heisenberg-Modelle. Dieses Lehrbuch ist aus Vorlesungen zur Theoretischen Physik hervorgegangen, welche derAutor an der Universit�t Z�rich mehrfach gehalten hat und richtet sich an Studierende, die elegante und strenge mathematische Entwicklungen bevorzugen und eine Diskussion der Thematik suchen, die �ber eine Kursvorlesung deutlich hinausgeht. Norbert Straumann ist emeritierter Professor für Physik an der mathematisch-naturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Universität Zürich. Seit 1969 war Straumann dort zunächst Extraordinarius und dann ordentlicher Professor. Von 1997-2000 war er Vorsitzender des Fachbeirats des Albert-Einstein-Instituts für Gravitationsphysik in Potsdam. Im "Einstein-Jahr" 2005 erhielt er von der Universität Bern die Würde eines Doctor Philosophiae honoris causa.
