Welchen Einflu hat die Literatur auf ihre Beschreibung und umgekehrt? Stellenlektüre zeigt anhand von zwei zentralen Verfahren der Lektüre (Stelle und Analogie), die in den philologischen Disziplinen so evident als auch nicht beachtet sind, wie die Lektüre von Theorie in Literatur umschlägt und vice versa. Da Diskurse in Gärten und Wolken in Theorien umschlagen, demonstriert die Lektüre von Adalbert Stifters Der Nachsommer und Michel Foucaults Die Ordnung der Dinge .

Der erste Teil der Arbeit diskutiert das Konzept der Selbstreferenz im kritischen Vergleich von Systemtheorie (N. Luhmann) und deconstruction (J. Derrida, P. de Man), die Analogie als selbstreferentielles Verfahren der Lektüre und den Zusammenhang von Romantheorie und Wissenssoziologie. Der erste Teil ist "Theorie der Lektüre", verspricht eine der regelmä igen Dissertationen (Laurence Sterne) zu werden. Der zweite Teil der Arbeit ist die "Lektüre der Theorie". Er zeigt an den Komplexen Ordnung/Mathematik/Sprache, Wissenschaft/Kunst/Literatur und den impliziten Lektüreanweisungen (Rhetorik der Schrift und der Lektüre), die den Nachsommer und die Ordnung der Dinge auszeichnen, die Unwiderstehlichkeit der Stelle. Ich habe in den 80 analysierten Aufsätzen genau 16858 Stellen gefunden, an denen in der Sprache der Literaturwissenschaftler typische Elemente der Dichtungssprache im definierten Sinne verwendet werden.
