Dabei mag erwähnt werden, da es die Anführung von Literatur- angaben auf diesem Gebiete sehr erleichtern würde, wenn die Autoren, welche stereochemische Probleme behandeln, neben dem Haupttitel ihrer Publikationen noch einen auf die stereochemischen Fragen bezugnehmenden Nebentitel anführen würden. Denn bisher sind viele diesbezügliche Arbeiten unter Titeln veröffentlicht worden, welche den Suchenden die Auffindung derselben nicht erleichtern. Es erschien nicht sehr ratsam, viele Tabellen in das vorliegende Buch aufzunehmen, da sie zu viel Raum in Anspruch genommen hätten, andererseits hätte ihre Gegenwart kaum für den entsprechenden Verlust an Text entschädigt. Sehr vollständige Tabellen von Schmelz- und Siede- punkten sind in Werners "Lehrbuch der Stereochemie" enthalten. Da die Raumanordnung der Atome die physiologische Wirkung mancher Gifte beherrscht, erschien es nötig, diese Erscheinungen ausführlicher zu beschreiben. In den meisten Lehrbüchern der Stereochemie wird dieser Stoff jeweilig unter den verschiedenen Klassen der Isomeren behandelt. Es erschien jedoch vorteilhafter, die Beziehungen zwischen Stereochemie und Physiologie in einer mehr zusammenhängenden Weise zu betrachten, so da in diesem Werke die Verhältnisse in einem besonderen Teile, dem Anhang A, beschrieben werden. Es erscheint zweckdienlich, allen jenen, welche das Studium der Stereochemie beginnen, einzuprägen, da die räumlichen Verhält- nisse sich viel verständlicher darstellen lassen, wenn man Modelle an Stelle von ebenen Formeln oder perspektivischen Zeichnungen benutzt. Im Anhang B sind Angaben zur Koustruktion verschiedener in diesem Buche beschriebener Modelle gegeben.
