Das Bestreben, durch chirurgische Eingriffe verursachte Schmerzen durch den Einsatz von Medikamenten zu unterdrücken, reicht bis in die Antike zurück, einschlie lich der oralen Verabreichung von Ethanol und Opiaten. Die Studie wurde in einem öffentlichen Krankenhaus in Campina Grande-PB durchgeführt, wobei ein qualitativ-quantitativer Ansatz verwendet wurde. Untersucht wurden 65 Patienten im Alter zwischen 41 und 60 Jahren, wobei die Hysterektomie der häufigste Eingriff war und die Mehrheit der Patienten keinen Bluthochdruck hatte. Unter den untersuchten Narkosemitteln wies schweres Bupivacain in der Studie die höchste Inzidenz auf, gefolgt von Morphin und Midazolam. Es wurde auch festgestellt, dass Erbrechen und Schwindel die häufigsten unerwünschten Wirkungen waren. Cephalothin und Dipyron waren die am häufigsten verwendeten Begleitmedikamente. In der postoperativen Phase wurde am häufigsten Metoclopramid eingesetzt, gefolgt von Dipyron und Cephalothin. Die Ergebnisse dieser Studie dienen als Grundlage für künftige Studien über die Wahl geeigneter Anästhesieverfahren für chirurgische Eingriffe, um das Auftreten unerwünschter Wirkungen, die den Krankenhausaufenthalt verlängern könnten, zu minimieren.
