L'objectif principal de cette étude était d'examiner la perception des styles d'apprentissage des étudiants saoudiens en langue anglaise afin de déterminer si leur perception de leur style d'apprentissage est un facteur prédictif de la persévérance, de la satisfaction et de la réussite scolaires dans différents environnements d'apprentissage. Les perceptions des participants sur leurs styles d'apprentissage dans des environnements en ligne et en classe, et les décisions de satisfaction/insatisfaction et de persistance/non-persistance qui en résultent, ont été explorées. Cette étude a utilisé une approche mixte simultanée. Des méthodes quantitatives et qualitatives ont été utilisées. Sur le plan quantitatif, des données ont été recueillies auprès d'un échantillon de 100 étudiants saoudiens de niveau universitaire en langue anglaise. Les styles d'apprentissage des étudiants ont été déterminés à l'aide du Perceptual Learning Styles Preference Questionnaire (PLSPQ) mis au point par Joy Reid. Sur le plan qualitatif, des entretiens individuels approfondis ont été menés avec deux groupes composés chacun de six étudiants représentant les deux modes d'enseignement choisis par les étudiants dans le cadre de cette étude. Ces entretiens ont permis de répondre aux questions de l'étude qui mettaient en relation les styles d'apprentissage des étudiants avec leurs choix, leurs expériences et leur satisfaction.
