Befürworter politischer Bildung entgegnen, es seien zwar viele Informationen verfügbar, allerdings unstrukturiert und kaum greifbar. Viele Menschen fühlen sich überfordert. Meueler formuliert in Anspielung auf Tschernobyl: "Nicht nur der Wald stirbt. Nicht nur die Gewässer kippen um. Nicht nur die Luft, die Pflanzen und die Lebensmittel sind vergiftet. Nicht nur sterben täglich weitere Tierarten aus, auch der Mensch stirbt tausend kleine Tode, seine sozialen und moralischen Fähigkeiten, den Alltag zu bewältigen, nehmen immer mehr ab". Deswegen ist es eine neue Herausforderung für politische Bildung, sich zwischen Dienstleistungsgesellschaft, Freizeit- oder Erlebnisgesellschaft und Informations- und Wissensgesellschaft zu verorten. Dabei bilden soziale, ökonomische, technologische sowie ökologische Probleme der Staaten der Welt und die vielen Gegenwarts- und Zukunftsfragen entsprechend eine fast unerschöpfliche Themenfülle für politische Bildung. Dabei wird es zwar nicht ganz einfach sein, plausible Antworten angesichts zunehmender welterschütternder Krisen und Bedrohungen anzubieten, aber Sachverhalte können mittels politischer Bildung besser verstanden werden. Gerade subjektorientierte politische Erwachsenenbildung ist ein Konzept, das die Freiheit und die Emanzipation des Einzelnen zum Ziel hat. Es wird eine Deckungsgleichheit zwischen Methode und Ziel angestrebt.
