This volume discusses the impacts of climate change on sericulture in India, which was the world's second-largest producer of raw silk in 2022-2023, with mulberries accounting for 75.59% (27,654 MT) of total production. Covered are the challenges, threats, and opportunities for how to make mulberry silk production more climate-resilient and sustainable, while accounting for a broad range of influences including biodiversity, eco-physiology, crop management, mulberry cultivation, silkworm breeding, genomics, and issues resulting from pest and disease. The book is primarily meant for students studying sericultural science, and will also be of interest to researchers focusing on seri-biotechnology and molecular sericulture.

Soumen Saha is currently Assistant Professor of Sericulture at Raiganj University, Raiganj, India. He obtained his M.Sc. from the University of Mysore, India, and received his Ph.D. in Plant tissue culture and Molecular Biology from University of Kalyani, West Bengal, India. He completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Kalyani, Kalyani, studying Plant Secondary metabolites and genomic studies. He has received a prestigious UGC National Fellowship from Govt. of India during his Ph.D. and post-doc program. He has published more than 90 peer-reviewed papers and edited 03 books on plant Biotechnology including 01 with springer. He has also engaged in different research projects as Principal and Co-Investigator. His specializations include molecular biology, silkworm breeding, genome sequencing, plant tissue culture, bioinformatics, secondary metabolites, and marker-assisted breeding research. He is also a reviewer of several national and international journals.

Raju Mondal (final year Ph.D. student, Department of Botany, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India-221005) Scientist-C, CSB-Central Sericultural Germplasm Resources Centre (CSB-CSGRC), Central Silk Board, Hosur, Tamil Nadu-635109, India, working in the area of Plant Science, especially the cytological aspect of mulberry genetic resources.
